Why wont the light fixture work on my new cieling fan?

I purchased a Harbor Breeze Cascade remote controlled cieling fan from Lowes a few weeks ago. My dad and I installed but for some reason the light will never turn on. I replaced the bulb (100 watt halogen---all I could find was T---fixture says J....they look exactly the same). Still did not work. I tested the contact points for the bulb with a power tester and there is power. I took the light part back to Lowes last night and they gave me a new one. Installed it and still no light. I was extra careful with bulb to make sure I didnt damage it. I am at a loss now.
