Nipple confusion and feeding??

Has anyone had a problem with pacifiers and nipple confusion? I have been feeding for 2 weeks and still have extremely sore . I was wondering could his pacifier be to blame? Could it be preventing him for getting a good latch on? He loves his pacifier and I would hate to put he through withdrawl from it (pacifier introduced by hospital nurses without my permission).
