Crazy 3 team trade???!?!?
Imagine this three team trade: Cle signs Wally Z. to $15.5 mil contract, sends Wally to Phi, Z and $3 mil cash (which is what's still owed Z this year), and a small contract (DJ, Jawad, etc.) to Phx. Phx sends J Collins (backup center), and J. Richardson to Phi. Phi sends Dalembert to Phx, Iguodala to Cle. Phx sends Amare to Cle. Cle would send draft picks to Phi and/or Phx to close the deal. Why would Phi do this? J Rich makes as much as Iggy but for 2 yrs - not 5. Wally comes off the books at the end of the year saving them $15.5 mil, (putting them just under the cap). They get rid of Dalembert, along with another $14 mil+ saved, after J Rich goes in '11. Why would Phx do this? They get a post-playing center they think would work well in their system with Nash, (Frye plays for the 3). Z gets paid with Cle's money, (his contract is forward-weighted in payments, is owed only about $3 mil more), and is waived, (wink, wink). With Amare gone, and other expiring contracts, they are under the cap, and out of the luxury tax. It all works under cap rules. Z can be signed for the minimum salary after 30 days. Phx still has a $2 mil cap exception they could use, and lesser players could be added as in the Dal-Was deal. Would this help Cle for the next few years? Many things are possible.........
