Can we get help for child care costs if in full time education?

My Daughter did her A levels and wanted to do her degree, but her application was turned down even though her grades were really good. My friend who is a lecturer at the Uni she applied for said it was due to cuts by the goverment, However this devastated my daughter as all she ever wanted to be in life was a mother and a nurse. She was advised that if she took a collage course in fastrack nursing Uni never turn anyone down who have done this course. She has been accepted but has a one year old daughter. Can she get help with child care cost? I can have my granddaughter 2 days a week. But looking at nursery for the other 2 days. My daughter is on income support. Any advice would be welcome as I have never claimed benefits so dont know how the systems works, would she be able to get the other two days paid? and if so how to go about it?
